Eric Siu: Okay, so in this video I'm going to talk about how to 10X your Content Output with this framework. So I talk about this framework all the time. And I think nowadays everyone's producing so much content out there, it's important to think about how you can maximize your content. This framework is from Aleyda Solis, and this is the Content Reusage Framework. You can call it the content repurposing framework, you can call it whatever you want. When you think about your content, if you write a blog post, do you just write the blog post and then just publish it, and then it just kind of sails off into the sunset? If you're doing that it's probably a big mistake, right? You're spending $400-$500 on a post, $1,000 on a post, and then it just kind of goes out there to die. You don't buy a car and then drive it for a week, and then you're done. You drive it for as long as you can until you need to get a new car.
As a matter of fact, I was watching a video yesterday, Jeff Bezos, when he was worth eight or nine billion dollars, he was still driving a Honda Accord. He was getting interviewed by 60 Minutes. How can you maximize the mileage on what you're producing or what you're using? The first step is when you have a piece of content, this works really well for us, we are updating it. So we have this one post on SEO techniques, we have this other post on marketing companies or case studies. Before we update it we're getting like 500 visits to that post per month, after we update it, we're getting about 4,000 visits a month. So think about how you can constantly update the posts that are doing well for you.
Step number two, is expanding your piece of content. So you update it to make sure it's up to date, but also expanding it. When Wikipedia first started Abraham Lincoln's page was only 3,000 words or so. Now it's about 15,000 words. They keep updating it all the time because Wikipedia has users constantly updating all the time. They are kind of the defacto pieces of content and more and more people will link to it because it's so good. It's just so big. That is the best piece of content. The third thing is you've got to reformat your piece of content too. If I'm doing a blog post, already it's done really well, why don't I make it into a webinar? Why don't I make into a video like this? Why don't I make it into a podcast? Why don't I make into social media images? So you've got to reformat too.
Curating is step number four. When your curate a piece of content, how can you take it and make it into multiple social media images, and then pushing it out there to your social media channels? Right now in our Instagram, we have a team that's just focused on taking a lot of our quotes out there, interviews we have, videos we have, and just posting it to our Instagram, our Twitter, and our Facebook. That's starting to do well for us. People are starting to engage with it more and more. The final thing you need to do here is refocus your piece of content. Let's say you're talking about SEO techniques for 2017. Maybe you might say, "Okay, why don't I talk about black hat SEI techniques for 2017 or 2018 or whatever in the future." You have all these pieces of content already. Why don't you spend maybe one time per month thinking about how you can refocus a piece of content? How you can do all these different things. Do these things first before you think about constantly producing new content.
You've got to have this framework set, and then talk about it with your content team. And then once you start doing this, you get in a flow. You're going to be able to crank out a lot more content. Your reach is going to expand, and your business is going to grow. So if you want to grow your business, you like videos like this, just hit subscribe and we'll see you in the next one.
