Speaker 1: Get ready for your daily dose of marketing strategies and tactics from entrepreneurs with the guile and experience to help you find success in any marketing capacity. You're listening to Marketing School with your instructors, Neil Patel and Eric Siu.
Eric: Welcome to another episode of Marketing School. I'm Eric Siu.
Neil: I'm Neil Patel.
Eric: Today, we're going to talk about how to generate leads with free tools. This is something you actually do a lot of, Neil. So what's an example of this and how is it done for you?
Neil: Sure. If you want to collect SEO leads, create SEO greater analyzer and then at the end when people have a bad score, just say, "Hey, do you want to fix this? Contact us if you need help." HubSpot did this before anyone else. That's where I got the concepts for. Like if you Google email signature generator, keep in mind HubSpot is a email tool. They not only help you build a email signature but then you'll get a call from their sales reps selling you why you should sign up for HubSpot's marketing automation suite and email marketing solution.
Eric: Great. I mean, for those of you are looking to ... Here's an example, right, you could actually build a calculator. Let's say you want to build a calculator to see if inbound marketing actually generates ROI, right? So let's say you're an agency. You can actually use a tool called Outgrow, I think it's Outgrow.io. But Outgrow will allow you to make different calculations and then in the very front, if they actually want to get the report or the calculation, they just need to put in their email address, right? So that's an easy way to generate leads. I've seen other tools out there as well, I mean, so there's the website creator. That's from HubSpot and then Neil has the SEO tool as well and what, like you think about-
Neil: There's a lot. There's another one. How much it cost to make a app, that's by Crew. So it's a little quick quiz. You see that it just breaks down like individual format, how much it cost to make a app and it says, "Do you want help for this cost? If yes, put in your information." It doesn't have to be a complex tool but the cool part about tools versus content is you don't have to keep creating them to generate traffic. Like my SEO analyzer continually generates 70,000 visitors a month without me doing any ... Right, while content marketing, I had to keep writing content to maintain the traffic if not grow it.
Eric: So how much does a tool like that cost?
Neil: 20, 30 grand max but you can usually get a lot of this stuff done for under like a few grand to five grand. If I wanted to, I could have just took a SEO analyzer script for 150 bucks and popped it up. I ended up doing that and then as it got popular, I spent more money like 20, 30 grand to do it somewhat decently, well.
Eric: Yeah, so it's okay to start small first and then spend more money on something once you start to see it work. But the bottom line is, I mean, you just look at this as a marketing expense and you spend the 20, 30 grand but it's ... How long have you had it for?
Neil: Years.
Eric: Years. Okay, 20, 30 grand, you break that down over a couple of years or so. It's worth it.
Neil: Cheapest form of marketing that I've ever done. Beats out paid advertising. Beats out content marketing. I haven't found anything that's cheaper.
Eric: There you go. So that's it for-
Neil: It also generates more leads than anything else as well conversion wise.
Eric: There you go. That's it for today. But before we go, we have a one-year annual subscription of Crazy Egg that we would like to give away. This is worth close to $1,200 and before I give you the details, Neil what is Crazy Egg?
Neil: Sure. Crazy Egg is a visual analytics tool. When you go into Google Analytics, you're probably lost in what you needed to do to that data to improve your website. Crazy Egg will show you. It will show you all the changes you need to make to convert more visitors into sales whether to put like a heat map or a scroll map where it'd show how far people scroll down and if your call to actions are in the right place or if people are dropping off on your checkout page and where you can make changes to your design, your marketing messages, all within Crazy using the WYSIWYG editor and you can even run AV tests to ensure that your changes are improving your conversion rate.
Eric: Great. So if you want to get in on this, just go to singlegrain.com/giveaway. The cool thing is we're giving away one of these every single week for the next year. You can also get multiple entries as well. So to learn more, go to singlegrain.com/giveaway and we will see you tomorrow.
