Eric Siu: Welcome to another episode of Marketing School, I'm Eric Siu.
Neil Patel: And I'm Neil Patel.
Eric Siu: Today we are going to talk about three creative ways to attract your ideal customer. So one thing that we do when it comes to attracting ideal customers, it's not really the intention but this kind of happened that way, but I just like throwing dinners. Actually I was in San Francisco this week throwing a couple of dinners, some that had some clients but mainly it was just focused on marketing directors.
So yeah people that are not exactly clients but when you do things like that, because I mention on the podcast before, that people like doing business with people. Naturally people start to think about, oh how can I help the host of the dinner right? So they're thinking Eric well I had this other company we should talk to, or you know we're doing this one thing and we should bring you in too. It just naturally happens and not a lot of people think about kind of these offline things that work really well.
So dinners, you know that's one creative way to go about it because you're getting the right people in front of you, and you're keeping it to a very curated group. You foot the bill and everything, but for me at the end of the day it's just about connecting people, but it just so happens that it actually does bring in ideal customers.
Neil Patel: One strategy I like doing is E-mailing out potential customers, so I'll go on LinkedIn, I pay for a premium account, I try to find potential customers. I'll get all their details, I'll find their E-mail addresses, I E-mail them and it'll just be a soft E-mail with educational information, it's not even a pitch. Within that E-mail I put like a remarketing pixel, so what happens is when they're browsing the web they keep seeing ad's and information, and case studies and white papers relating to my company. Eventually some of these people end up clicking on them, they then go to the website and then they fill out a lead form. The reason I love doing it that way is when they hit you up, it's much easier to close someone than when you hit them up.
Eric Siu: Number three, I like using a tool called Dux Soup, so that's d.u.x soup, like chicken soup. So with Dux Soup basically you are able to scan profiles through LinkedIn. So through LinkedIn whether you're using sales navigator or LinkedIn recruiter, which those are anywhere from 60 to 120 bucks a month, basically you might say, hey I'm looking for a marketing director for employees that are, or companies that have more than 100 employees. 100 to 500 or so, and maybe they're in education for example.
Well once you set that search parameter up and then you're on a search page, well you start using Dux Soup, and then Dux Soup will start to scan these pages. Then you make sure that in your profile it says, hey we're looking to work with education companies, and we help them grow their revenue. Something like that, right? You know those things, I mean Dux Soup is like 15 bucks a month, again the LinkedIn stuff 60 to 120 bucks a month.
Then if you're on a Mac you want to make sure that your computer doesn't go into idle, so you want to add a tool called Caffeine, and that will keep your screen on. You can just turn your brightness off and just leave during the day when you're busy doing something else. So that's another way to kind of get the attention of people, and it has actually lead to some deals.
So anyway I mean that's three creative ways to attract your ideal customer. But before we go, we have a special giveaway this week. So tool is called Olark and Olark is a chat tool that you can add to your site. Previously Neil and I have talked about chat tools, so if you want a one year subscription to Olark, then basically what you can do just leave a rating review and also subscribe to this podcast. Then text marketingschool, that's one word, marketingschool to 33444 to prove that you did it, and we will pick a winner. So that's it for today, we'll see you tomorrow.
